Rules of the international photography competition
1. Aims
The contest is organized to present the diversity and beauty of Orthodoxy in Greece. Through this contest, which will culminate with a printed album and exhibition, we aim to present the life of the Orthodox Church to a wider audience.
The implementation of this contest will serve the glory of God and strengthen and further develop the fraternal relations among all the Orthodox Churches. It will increase the knowledge of Orthodoxy in general as well as the life and work of the Orthodox Church in Greece.
2. Organizers
Competition is organized by the Apostoliki Diakonia, OrthPhoto.net and the Publishing Department of the Polish Orthodox Church.
3. Partners Partners are church organizations who assist in the organisation and promotion of the contest and who sponsor prizes for the winning photos. Partner organisation will benefit from having their logo published in promotional materials and on the website. Partners will be given the right to use contest submissions for non-commercial purposes.
4. Sponsors Sponsors are those individuals, organisations or institutions that sponsor prizes for the contest. Sponsors will benefit from having their logo published in promotional materials and on the website
5. Term The contest begins 25/03/2023 and ends 31/07/2023. Organizers reserves the right, if it deems it appropriate, to extend the duration of the competition.
6. Rules of entry
6.1 The competition is open to all professional and amateur photographers from around the world. Participation in the competition is free of charge.
6.2 Only images depicting places of worship belonging to mutually recognised canonical Eastern Orthodox Churches will be accepted.
6.3 Photos that are likely to present, create or develop tensions as determined by the contest organisers will be automatically rejected.
6.4 Participants may submit a maximum of 6 photos in each category.
6.5 The quality and size of the photograph should be: no smaller than 3000 pixels in either width, or height (it's best to send the original file). The maximum size of the photo file cannot exceed 20Mb.
6.6 The photos must be sent in jpeg, png or tiff format. The standard color space for the judging process is sRGB.
6.7 Images should be submitted with the highest quality with regard to file size, bit depth and resolution.
6.8 Photos need to be submitted together with the participation form and include the title of the photo, author details (name, address and telephone number), and year when a picture was taken. The participation form is available for download on competition page: www.greece.orthphoto.net
6.9 The contestants are allowed to use post-production technics such as crop, or the use of filters to improve photo quality.
6.10 If a contestant submits more photos that the allowable limit only the most recently uploaded submissions will be accepted.
6.11 Entrants under 18 years of age require the permission of a parent or guardian. By submitting photos for consideration the user acknowledges that they have obtained the permission of a parent or legal guardian.
6.12 By entering this competition entrants accepts all published rules and agree to be bound by them.
6.13 Entrants of the contest give their permission for the transmission of their personal data by the Organizers for the purpose of the contest. Orthnet complies strictly to all laws concerning the security of personal data.

When submitting via email please include the the following participation form. If your submission is bigger than 20MB, please use a file transfer system like wetransfer, google drive, dropbox, etc.
7. Categories
We are looking for photographs in following categories:
Places (architecture, monasteries, churches, cemeteries, landscape etc.)
People (portraits ofordained and lay etc.)
Reportage (journalism, church events, pilgrimages, feasts, street photo etc.)
Details (icons, frescos, mosaics, crosses, tombs etc.)
8. Copyrights
8.1 An entrant must hold and affirm that the entrant holds all rights to the photograph(s) submitted; those that violate or infringe upon another person's copyright or license are not eligible to enter the competition. Photos must not contain any infringing, threatening, false, misleading, abusive, harassing, libellous, defamatory, vulgar, obscene, scandalous, or inflammatory content.
8.2 Entry in the Contest does not transfer ownership of the rights in the images submitted, but constitutes the grant of the license to Organizer and partners as provided herein. By entering the contest entrants grants the organizers (OrthPhoto.net) the right to publish their photos in the organizers' publications related to the contest (albums, calendars, photocast, exhibitions).
The best photos chosen from all submissions will be selected for the album "Colours of Orthodoxy. Greece", which will be published by the Publishing Department of the Polish Orthodox Church. Authors whose photos are chosen for inclusion in the album will receive a free copy of the new album.
8.3 Any other use of the photos requires entrants' permission.
9. Jury and evaluation process
9.1 The Jury of the competition is international.
9.2 Decisions of the competition judges are final.
10. The prizes of the contest*
The following prizes are available in this Contest:
Grand Prix: (selected from all categories): 1000 EURO (Founded by Apostoliki Diakonia)
1st prize in category: 300 EURO + diploma
2st prize in category: 200 EURO + diploma
3rd prize in category: 100 EURO + diploma
Honorable Mention: Diploma (The number of Honourable Mentions given is a decision of the Jury)

Best young photographers 200 EUR0 for photographer under 21 old (Founded by the Embassy of Greece in Warsaw)
Best Greek photographer Air ticket to Poland and trip exploring polish orthodoxy (Founded by Polish Embassy in Athens).
Prizes will be announced during the Award Ceremony in September and on the competition’s web site.
All monetary prizes will be issued as bank transfers. Winners will be responsible for reporting any winnings for tax purposes.
How to participate
Entering the competition is free of charge. Entries must be received until 31st of July 2023.
